It is part of Tamiya's Military Miniature Series (No. 394) and was developed with \u003cstrong\u003eall-new tooling\u003c\/strong\u003e after extensive research of the full-size vehicle. The finished model measures \u003cstrong\u003e126mm long and 64mm wide\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring WWII, the RSO was developed as a German tractor to deal with conditions such as deep snowfall. A 70 hp 3,517cc V8 gasoline engine and 4-speed transmission were mounted in the front and powered the rear differential and sprockets via a propeller shaft. The first production model, the RSO\/01, had a rounded cabin of pressed steel sheet, and 60cm-wide snow tracks could be fitted to get over bad roads. Production started in October 1942, and from the following spring the cabin floor was raised by around 30mm to keep it clear of the snow tracks. The RSO served as an artillery tractor and for transporting goods.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis kit captures the \u003cstrong\u003epost-spring 1943\u003c\/strong\u003e version, with the distinctive rounded cabin, a choice of cargo bed \u003cstrong\u003ewith or without canvas cover\u003c\/strong\u003e, and detailed engine, drive shaft and differential gears.
