Build one of the most distinctive light tanks of the early Second World War with the Tamiya 1/35 French Light Tank H39 Pz.Kpfw.38H 735(f) Plastic Model Kit. The Hotchkiss H39 was developed as an improved version of the H35, featuring a more powerful engine and an upgraded 37mm gun. Following the Fall of France in 1940, many H39 tanks were captured by Germany, modified with features such as a commander's cupola, and redesignated Pz.Kpfw.38H 735(f) for service with the Wehrmacht.

Tamiya faithfully reproduces this historic vehicle in 1/35 scale with exceptional engineering and crisp detail. The compact cast hull and complex turret are accurately recreated using slide-mold technology, while the suspension, trench tail, and link-and-length tracks provide an authentic appearance. The kit includes parts to build either the French Army H39 or the German Pz.Kpfw.38H 735(f), along with crew figures and detailed markings for both versions.

Whether you're building a Battle of France vehicle or a captured German tank serving later in the war, this versatile kit is an excellent addition to any WWII armor collection.

Historical Background

Introduced in 1939, the Hotchkiss H39 was an improved version of the H35 light tank, featuring a more powerful 120-horsepower engine and an upgraded 37mm gun. It served with French cavalry units during the German invasion of France in 1940. Following France's surrender, hundreds of H39 tanks were captured by Germany and modified with features including a commander's cupola and revised equipment before entering Wehrmacht service as the Pz.Kpfw.38H 735(f). These captured vehicles were used for occupation duties, training, and combat operations throughout Europe, including during the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944.
