Build one of the most innovative main battle tanks ever produced with the Trumpeter 1/35 Swedish Strv 103C MBT plastic model kit. Better known as the S-Tank, the Strv 103C broke conventional tank design by eliminating the turret entirely. Instead, its fixed main gun was aimed by adjusting the vehicle's hydropneumatic suspension and steering system, creating one of the lowest-profile and most unique armored vehicles of the Cold War.

Trumpeter faithfully recreates this remarkable Swedish main battle tank with finely molded parts, crisp surface detail, and an accurate representation of the upgraded Strv 103C variant. The kit captures the vehicle's distinctive hull, suspension, dozer blade, and external fuel tanks, making it an excellent project for armor enthusiasts looking for something different from traditional turreted tanks.

Whether displayed as a standalone model or incorporated into a Cold War military diorama, the Strv 103C is a standout addition to any modern armor collection.

Historical Background

Introduced into Swedish service in the late 1960s, the Stridsvagn 103, commonly known as the S-Tank, was unlike any other main battle tank in the world. Instead of using a rotating turret, its fixed 105mm gun was aimed by steering the vehicle and adjusting its advanced hydropneumatic suspension. This revolutionary design produced an exceptionally low silhouette while providing outstanding protection and accuracy from prepared defensive positions. The upgraded Strv 103C variant featured improved fire-control equipment, additional external fuel tanks, a more powerful diesel engine, and an integrated dozer blade. Although it never saw combat, the S-Tank remains one of the most distinctive armored vehicles ever fielded.
