Historical Background

Introduced during the 1970s, the A-7H Corsair II was an export version of the American-built LTV A-7 Corsair II supplied to the Hellenic Air Force. Derived from the U.S. Navy's carrier-based attack aircraft, the A-7H was optimized for land-based operations and became one of Greece's primary strike aircraft for decades. Capable of carrying a wide variety of bombs, rockets, and guided munitions, the Corsair II earned a reputation for reliability, accuracy, and long-range attack capability. The Hellenic Air Force operated the A-7H until 2014, making Greece the final military operator of the Corsair II.
