Historical Background
The King Tiger (Tiger II) entered combat in 1944 and quickly established itself as Germany's most powerful operational heavy tank. Armed with the devastating 8.8cm KwK 43 L/71 cannon and protected by up to 150mm of sloped frontal armor, it was capable of destroying Allied tanks at long range while resisting most enemy anti-tank weapons. During the Ardennes Offensive, better known as the Battle of the Bulge, King Tigers spearheaded German armored assaults through the dense forests of Belgium and Luxembourg. Although fuel shortages and mechanical issues limited their effectiveness, the King Tiger remains one of the most iconic armored vehicles of World War II.
