Developed as the successor to the M3 and M5 Stuart, the M24 Chaffee entered combat in late 1944 and quickly earned a reputation for its excellent mobility, improved protection, and powerful 75mm M6 gun. It saw action during the Ardennes Offensive, in Germany, and throughout the Italian Campaign before continuing service in conflicts around the world after World War II.

This completely new-tool kit is based on extensive research of the full-size vehicle and accurately captures the Chaffee's compact profile and distinctive features. Tamiya includes finely reproduced cast armor textures, realistic weld seams, slide-molded gun barrel and fenders, optional hull-side sand shields, clear parts for the vision blocks and lights, and a partial turret interior featuring the gun breech and radio equipment. A photo-etched rear stowage rack, assembly-style tracks with one-piece straight sections, and two torso crew figures further enhance the model's realism.

Three marking options are included, allowing you to build vehicles that served with the 1st Armored Division in Italy or U.S. Army units in Germany during 1945.
