Vallejo Chipping Medium Water Based – 17ml

Vallejo Chipping Medium 73.214 is a water-based modeling medium designed to create realistic chipped, worn, scratched, and flaked paint effects on scale models and dioramas. It can also be used to simulate areas where paint has worn away to reveal underlying rust or other colors.

Apply the medium with an airbrush or brush between layers of water-based acrylic paint. Once the upper paint layer has dried, it can be selectively removed with a stiff brush, toothpick, or similar tool to create realistic chips and scratches. Vallejo recommends protecting the finished effect with a clear varnish.

How to Use

1. Apply your base color and allow it to dry completely.
2. Apply Vallejo Chipping Medium 73.214 with a brush or airbrush.
3. Allow the medium to dry, approximately 30 minutes depending on application.
4. Apply the final paint color over the medium.
5. Once dry, gently scratch or rub the upper layer to reveal the underlying color.
6. Seal the finished effect with a protective varnish.
